The Top Series CSI3* 1.45m presented by Carlsberg was one of the highlights on Saturday evening. With 55 starters on the list, only the very best 12 pairs from the first round were qualified to continue in the second round against the clock.
Jaime Azcarraga (MEX) on the 10-year-old gelding Eye Catcher JB (Cantos x Berlin) produced the first double clear result of the night, but eventually had to settle for the runner-up position after Thibault Philippaerts (BEL) snatched the win – much to the delight of the home crowds. On the 10-year-old stallion Catwalk Harry (Verdi TN x Obos Quality 004), the young Belgian talent blazed around the track – leaving all the fences up in a time of 43.93 seconds, stealing the top honors from the Mexican rider.
Representing the hosts at Stephex Stables, the young talent Emilie Conter (BEL) and the 11-year-old gelding Mufasa (Wandor van de Mispelaere x Calvados/Sable Rose) were the quickest in the second round but had to settle for third place with four faults. Noora Forsten (FIN) on the 9-year-old mare Con Caya (Con Chello x Chambertin 3) placed fourth and Bliss Heers (USA) on the 9-year-old stallion Antidote de Mars (Diamant de Semilly x Jarnac) took the fifth spot.
