Great Britain’s Louise Whitaker and the 11-year-old mare Ruby VIII (Balou du Rouet x Adieu Z) posted one of only two double clear rounds in Saturday’s CSI2* Super Cup Grand Prix presented by Maison De Greef, to take the top honours and important world ranking points.
With only two of the 39-horse-and-rider combinations in this 1.45m Grand Prix managing to produce clears over the first-round track, it was a real duel in the jump-off. And, it was a close race as only 0.21 seconds separated Whitaker from Brazilian runner-up Joao Victor Castro on Sir Landal Joter (Singular Joter x Landadel) – both posting clear rounds against the clock.
Belgium’s Dimitry Noterman and Bacardi-Rhum de Muze (Kannan x Darco) finished third with the fastest round of those on four faults in round one, then followed his compatriots Olivier Vanderhasselt and Tatiana Troiani in fourth and fifth.
